  • ENGLISH EDITION OF THE WEEKLY CHINESE NEWSPAPER, IN-DEPTH AND INDEPENDENT
    Podcast: China's Shifting Wine Market

Wine in China is moving from a luxury market to one that’s within the reach of the middle class. Both foreign and domestic wine makers are trying to capitalize on this trend, but with varying results. One headache for many players in the industry is the still immature palate of China’s wine consumers.

In 2006, England native Fongyee Walker set up Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting with her husband in order to bring wine education to the budding Chinese market. In the short period since then, the wine landscape has changed dramatically. In today’s podcast Fongyee talks about China’s shifting wine industry, the quality of Chinese brands and what kind of people pay her to learn the finer points of wine appreciation
