China's State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) recently issued a document that included a proposal to actively support foreign investment in the country's cultural sector.

According to SAIC, foreign enterprises that either invest in cultural projects that are officially "encouraged," or engage in research and development in the cultural sector or are involved in the outsourcing of services, will be allowed to choose company names that bear some relation to the business they're engaged it or which represent their functions and features.

Of these companies, solely foreign-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises in which a foreign firm holds a controlling stake, which seek to add the word "China" to their existing brand name, must have registered capital of at least 30 million yuan.
