    Government Collects 5.7 Trillion Yuan in Fiscal Revenue in First Half of 2011

    China’s central and local governments collected a total 5.7 trillion yuan in fiscal revenue in the first half of 2011, up 31.2% on the amount they took in over the same period last year, according to information released by the Ministry of Finance earlier today. The revenue collected in the first 6 months of the year exceeded the amount raised from Jan to Aug last year. Central government revenue in the first half of 2011 was up 27% year-on-year and accounted for 2.9 trillion of total revenues. The aggregate figure of local government revenue was 2.8 trillion, up 35.9% on the same period last year. Fiscal revenue in June alone exceeded one trillion yuan, an increase of 27.6% on the amounted collected in June 2010.
