Chinese Government May Expand Pilot Triple-Play Telecoms Project

China's State Council may include another 19 provinces and cities in its pilot project for provision of internet, television and telephone services through a single subscription, The Beijing Morning Post reports, citing an unnamed source.

The paper also reports that Beijing might launch internet television, or IPTV, on National Day this year.

China's pilot scheme currently covers 12 pilot cities and may be expanded to cover 31 provinces and cities. However, the paper cites Zeng Huiming, an expert in radio and TV industry, saying that it's too early now for the expansion.
