The Propaganda Department of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee yesterday announced that the party secertary of Yihuang County Qiu Jianguo had been removed from his position. The head of the county's government Su Jianguo has also been removed from his position. The removal of the two officials is directly related to their involvement in the attempted demolition of a residence that led to the owners of the property setting themselves on fire on September 10, one of the family members later died in hospital. The officials were also later accused of blocking two female relatives of those who had set themselves alight from flying to Beijing to raise awareness of the situation.
